The 2020 United States racial unrest is an ongoing wave of civil unrest, comprised of protests and riots, against perceived systemic racism towards black people in the United States, notably in the form of police violence. It is a part of the nationwide Black Lives Matter movement, and was initially triggered by the killing of George Floyd, while detained by Minneapolis police officers, on May 25.
